3X5 FT NYL-GLO US MARINE CORPS

The US Marine Corps standard is a scarlet field with gray and gold Corps emblem.  The official colors were established in 1925.  The newly designed flag with the established colors was adopted as early as 1925. 

The Marine Corps emblem approved in 1868 originally had the crested bald eagle found around the world, a globe to signify service all over the world and a fouled anchor depicting battle in the air and on land and sea. The fouled anchor and the eagle can be traced back to the early Continental Marines.  It included a small ribbon in the eagle's beak with the Marine Corps motto, Semper Fidelis.  The globe is attributed to a symbol of the British Royal Marines.

In 1954 Dwight D. Eisenhower approved the design for the seal of the USMC.  The American Bald Eagle was included at this time to replace the crested eagle.  In 1955 this emblem became the official seal of the US Marine Corps and is correctly shown on Marine Corps flags.
